This visa route is designed for individuals aged 16 and above intending to study English language courses lasting between 6 and 11 months at accredited institutions in the UK.
- Applications must be made from outside the UK.
- Provide written evidence of acceptance onto an English language course (exclusive of other subjects) lasting between 6 and 11 months.
To establish genuine intent, you must demonstrate that you are a serious English learner who is committed to completing your studies and returning to your home country after completing your visa. You can do this by:
- explaining your motivation for studying English and how it will benefit you in the future.
- Describing your plans for returning to your home country and how your English language skills will help you achieve your goals.
When submitting your application for a short-term study visa, it is essential to provide robust evidence demonstrating your compliance with the stipulated requirements. The evidence should encompass the following key components:
Confirmation of Enrolment and Attendance:
A formal letter from your English language school verifying your enrolment status and confirming your attendance during the course. This letter should be on official letterhead, clearly stating the duration and nature of your intended studies and level of course.
Financial Documentation:
Comprehensive proof of funds indicating your ability to support yourself throughout the study period and you have funds available to cover your course fee. Acceptable documents may include:
Payslips: If employed, provide recent payslips showcasing your income.
Bank Statements: Present bank statements illustrating your financial stability and the availability of ample funds to cover your expenses.
Employer’s Letter: A letter from your employer, if applicable, affirming your employment status, income, and the employer’s consent for your temporary absence.
Business Owner Documents: If you own a business, relevant documents verifying your business’s financial standing and your role within it.
Accommodation Arrangements:
Substantiate your plans for accommodation during your study period. This could be in the form of an agreement, confirmation from a hall of residence, or any other document validating your housing arrangements.
If aged 16 or 17, you need the parental consent.
