A family member of a person who is British, or who holds settlement or refugee/humanitarian protection leave, may be able to apply to join them in the UK or remain with them in the UK.

Family members could be partners (spouse, unmarried partner, civil partner, fiancé/fiancée or prospective civil partner) or children.

A child must be aged under 18 at the time of first application and could be either a natural child or an adopted one.

There are various requirements to be met for family visas: financial, accommodation and, in some cases, an English language requirement. And there is a general requirement for partner visas for evidence to show that the relationship is genuine.
